  4. 0. Definitions
  5. --------------
  6. Minecraft: Denotes a copy of the Minecraft game licensed by Mojang AB
  7. User: Anybody that interract with the software in one of the following ways:
  8. - play
  9. - decompile
  10. - recompile or compile
  11. - modify
  12. Minecraft Forge: The Minecraft Forge code, in source form, class file form, as
  13. obtained in a standalone fashion or as part of a wider distribution.
  14. Dependency: Code required to have Minecraft Forge working properly. That can
  15. include dependencies required to compile the code as well as modifications in
  16. the Minecraft sources that are required to have Minecraft Forge working.
  17. 1. Scope
  18. --------
  19. The present license is granted to any user of Minecraft Forge, for all files included
  20. unless stated otherwise in the file itself. As a prerequisite, a user of Minecraft
  21. Forge must own a legally aquired copy of Minecraft.
  22. 2. Play rights
  23. --------------
  24. The user of Minecraft Forge is allowed to install the software on a client or
  25. a server and to play it without restriction.
  26. 3. Modification rights
  27. ----------------------
  28. The user has the right to decompile the source code, look at either the
  29. decompiled version or the original source code, and to modify it.
  30. 4. Derivation rights
  31. --------------------
  32. The user has the rights to derive code from Minecraft Forge, that is to say to
  33. write code that either extends Minecraft Forge class and interfaces,
  34. instantiate the objects declared or calls the functions. This code is known as
  35. "derived" code, and can be licensed with conditions different from Minecraft
  36. Forge.
  37. 5. Distribution rights
  38. ----------------------
  39. The user of Minecraft Forge is allowed to redistribute Minecraft Forge in
  40. partially, in totallity, or included in a distribution. When distributing
  41. binaries or class files, the user must provide means to obtain the sources of
  42. the distributed version of Minecraft Forge at no costs. This includes the
  43. files as well as any dependency that the code may rely on, including patches to
  44. minecraft original sources.
  45. Modification of Minecraft Forge as well as dependencies, including patches to
  46. minecraft original sources, has to remain under the terms of the present
  47. license.
  48. The right to distribute Minecraft Forge does not extend to the right to distribute
  49. MCP data files included within Minecraft Forge. These are the property of the MCP
  50. project and should be removed from any customized distribution of Minecraft Forge
  51. or permission sought separately from the MCP team.
